Dildos & strap-ons
Large dildos: diameter is the number that matters
Every listing in this category leads with length, which is the specification that matters least. The number that decides whether a large toy is pleasant or impossible is the circumference.
There is a limit to how much length is usable, and it is set by anatomy rather than by willingness: past a certain depth, more inches are simply not in contact with anything. Diameter has no such ceiling, and it is what produces the sensation of fullness that people are usually after when they look for a bigger toy. A toy two centimetres wider is a substantially different object. A toy five centimetres longer frequently is not.
The second thing worth knowing is that tissue accommodates gradually, over weeks, and that it does so better with softer material. A thick toy in firm silicone and the same thickness in a dual-density body with a soft outer layer are very different experiences, because the soft layer compresses and the firm one does not. People who size up and find it impossible have often changed the number without changing the material.
What to look at instead of length
- Diameter at the widest point, and where that point is. A toy that is widest near the base is far easier than one that is widest in the middle, because the body only has to accommodate the width at the moment of full insertion.
- Circumference rather than diameter if the listing gives it. It is the figure that compares to anything you already own, and a piece of string plus a ruler is a better sizing tool than a photograph.
- Firmness, which almost no listing states. Dual-density, with a firm core and a soft outer layer, feels meaningfully smaller than a single-density toy of the same measurement. This is the single most useful thing to look for when sizing up.
- The taper. A long gradual taper does the accommodation work for you. A blunt head on a thick shaft is the hardest possible combination.
- The base. Bigger toys are heavier and more slippery, and a base that is wide and flat is the difference between a toy that stays controllable and one that does not. For anal use a flared base is not optional at any size.
Three honest options at the larger end
- 1
The one that makes size manageable
VixenVixen VixSkin Mustang
Dual-density platinum silicone: a firm core inside a genuinely soft outer layer. At this size that construction matters more than any dimension, because the outer layer compresses and the toy accommodates rather than forcing accommodation.
- Strengths
- Dual-density silicone, which is the property that makes a large toy usable
- Platinum-cure silicone, non-porous and boilable
- Gradual taper and a flat base
- Limitations
- Sold through retailers rather than a maker-run store, so there is no purchase link here.
- Expensive, and the soft outer layer is the part that will eventually show wear
- The matte surface collects lint and needs storing properly
- Best for
- Sizing up for the first time, where material matters more than the measurement.

If the complaint was shape, not size
UberrimeUberrime Splendid Gentleman
A sculptural silicone toy from a small maker, with a shape designed around pressure distribution rather than realism. It belongs here because a well-shaped toy at a moderate size often answers what somebody wanted from a larger one.
- Strengths
- Shape designed deliberately rather than copied
- Solid body-safe silicone throughout
- Available in several firmnesses, which is unusual
- Limitations
- Sold through retailers rather than a maker-run store, so there is no purchase link here.
- Single-density options feel considerably larger than the same measurement in dual-density
- Small-maker production means stock and sizes come and go
- Best for
- Somebody who already owns a large toy and wants a different sensation rather than more size.
- 3
The safe intermediate step
TantusTantus (2 dildos)
Firm single-density silicone from a maker that has published its material standards for a long time. It is on this page as the sensible rung below the largest toys: the step people skip, and the one that makes the next step possible.
- Strengths
- Fully non-porous silicone, boilable, with a declared composition
- Firm enough to be controllable, which matters as size increases
- Bought from the maker rather than a reseller
- Limitations
- Single-density firmness feels bigger than the same measurement in a softer toy
- Plain design, with no attempt at a premium object
- Best for
- The intermediate size, bought before the large one rather than after.
Sizing up without hurting yourself
Measure what you already use
String around the widest point, then a ruler. This gives you a circumference you can compare against any listing, which a photograph never will.
Change the material before you change the number
A dual-density toy at a size you already manage frequently feels like a step up on its own, and it is the gentler way to find out whether more size is what you wanted.
Add one step, not two
A small increase, used for several weeks, before the next one. The intermediate toy is not a waste of money, it is the thing that makes the large one usable.
Warm up every single time
Accommodation is not permanent. A size that worked last week still needs the same warm-up and the same quantity of lubricant this week.
Questions people ask
- Does using large toys cause lasting looseness?
- Tissue is elastic and returns to its usual state; the common fear of permanent stretching is not how this works. What does cause lasting damage is force, tearing and insufficient lubrication, which is why the advice on this page is about pace rather than about limits.
- Why does one toy feel much bigger than another of the same size?
- Firmness and the position of the widest point. A single-density firm toy does not compress at all, and a toy that is widest in the middle demands full accommodation for longer. Both make the same measurement feel like a different object.
- Is length ever worth paying for?
- Up to a point set by your own anatomy, and past that the extra length stays outside the body. If a listing is advertising length above everything else, it is advertising the specification that matters least.
- How long does sizing up take?
- Weeks rather than days, and that is the honest answer rather than a cautious one. Anybody promising a quicker route is describing the mechanism by which people injure themselves.
