Sex dolls: we cover none of them, and this is the honest reason
This is the largest search term on the whole site and the only one we answer with a refusal. Not out of squeamishness: because the category cannot be covered responsibly from where we sit.
A full-size doll is a steel or aluminium skeleton inside a cast silicone or TPE body, usually between twenty and forty kilograms, usually built to order from a configurator, almost always shipped from a small number of factories and sold under dozens of retailer names. The same mould appears under several brands at several prices. There is no maker-run store in the sense the rest of this site uses the term: the overwhelming majority of what is sold online is sold by resellers with no manufacturing relationship at all, and a large share of it is counterfeited from the handful of studios with a reputation.
That alone would make a ranking dishonest. We cannot tell you which factory made a given listing’s product, so we cannot tell you what it is made of, and material is the only specification on this page that could hurt you.
What a seller would have to publish before we would consider covering this category
- The factory, by name. Not a brand invented for the storefront. Without it, nothing else on the listing can be checked.
- The material, declared and certified. Platinum-cure silicone and TPE behave completely differently in cleaning, staining, oil absorption and lifespan, and the listings routinely use the words interchangeably.
- A real warranty with a named entity behind it. A two-year promise from a dropshipper is not a warranty, it is a sentence.
- Weight and skeleton specification. The commonest regret in this category is not the product, it is discovering that thirty-five kilograms of silicone is unmanageable to move, clean and store in a normal home.
- A declared returns position. Almost nowhere in this category accepts returns, for obvious hygiene reasons. That is defensible, and it means a configurator order is final. It should be stated before payment, not after.
What most of this search is actually looking for
Search volume for this term dwarfs everything else in the silo, and the purchase rate behind it does not come close to matching. Most of the people typing it are not about to spend a four-figure sum on a forty-kilogram object they would then have to hide, clean and store. They are looking for the sensation, not the figure.
That part we do cover, and it is covered properly: a sleeve or a stroker delivers most of what people are curious about here, costs one or two per cent as much, fits in a drawer, can be cleaned in a sink and comes from manufacturers who publish what their products are made of.
What we would suggest instead, honestly labelled
- 1
The obvious starting point
FleshlightFleshlight (top 3 sleeves)
Not a doll and not pretending to be one. It is the product that answers the sensation question for almost everybody who asks it, from a manufacturer that has published the same material declaration for two decades.
- Strengths
- Declared material
- Sleeve is replaceable, so the case outlives it
- Cleans and dries in a few minutes
- Limitations
- Needs genuine drying time and a dry storage spot
- Nothing about it resembles a doll, which may not be what you came for
- Best for
- Anyone whose actual question was about sensation rather than about a figure.
- 2
If cleaning is the thing putting you off
TengaTenga Flip Zero / Flip Orb
It opens flat. That one design decision removes the single most common reason this whole product family ends up unused, which is the chore of cleaning a closed sleeve properly.
- Strengths
- Opens completely for cleaning and drying
- Adjustable pressure on the sides
- Rigid case, discreet closed
- Limitations
- Costs more than a basic sleeve
- Firmer sensation than a soft sleeve
- Best for
- Someone who will only keep using a toy that is easy to clean.
If you are going to buy a doll anyway, four things to settle first
Ask the seller which factory made it
A straight answer naming a manufacturer is the single most informative thing you can get. Evasion, a brand name with no factory behind it, or stock photos that appear on fifty other sites all tell you the same thing.
Settle storage before you settle the configuration
Work out where a thirty-kilogram item lives, how it gets there, and who else in the home will encounter it. This is the practical problem people underestimate, and no configurator asks about it.
Read the returns and customs terms
Assume no returns. Check the import rules for your own country before paying, because a seizure is not the seller’s problem and the money is usually gone.
Budget for cleaning and maintenance, not just purchase
Both materials need routine cleaning, full drying, and renewable powder or oil depending on the material. A doll that is not maintained degrades, and TPE in particular stains and absorbs.
Questions people ask
- Are you refusing to cover this because of the affiliate money?
- The opposite. This is the highest-volume term on the site and the commissions in the category are large, so covering it would pay better than anything else here. Refusing it costs us money, which is roughly how you can tell the decision is editorial.
- Is TPE or silicone better?
- Platinum-cure silicone is non-porous, tolerates heat and lasts longer; TPE is softer, cheaper and porous, which means it absorbs oils and cannot be fully sterilized. The problem in this category is not choosing between them, it is that listings frequently say one and ship the other.
- Would you review one if a manufacturer sent it?
- No. Accepting a sample would not solve the two problems on this page: we still could not verify the supply chain behind the listing a reader would buy from, and we would still be publishing in a category where we have drawn a hard line.
- What about torsos and smaller body-part products?
- The same editorial line applies, and the same supply-chain problem, so we do not rank those either. Where a maker publishes its material and sells through its own store, the product generally appears in our strokers and sleeves pages instead.
- Is it legal to own a sex doll?
- An adult doll is legal in most countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the United States and across the European Union. A doll with childlike features is not, in a growing list of those jurisdictions, and is seized at the border. This is general information and not legal advice; check your own country’s rules before importing anything.
